Jackie Appiah: The Amazing Actress From Ghana

OUTSIDE the rich line-up of films that she has appeared
including Turning Point, a 2012 Hollywood/Nollywood
drama written and directed by Niyi Towolawi, the
Ghanaian actress, Jackie Agyemang, is a style icon. She
is bold and daring on the acting turf.
One of the few actors that have won the African Movie
Academy Awards (AMAA) in different categories —
Upcoming Actress, Best Actress in a Supporting Role and
Leading Role — Jackie made a style statement at the
2012 Cannes Film Festival in France, when she swayed
attention from the dominant floor-sweeping mermaid
style creations to her hand-made Kente gown and a
matching neck bead that rested firmly on her neck.
Before 2007, Jackie Agyemang, maiden name Appiah,
was just one of the Ghanaian actresses trying to impress
a critical African movie audience. However, since she
was named the Best Actress in a Supporting Role at
AMAA that year, her star has continued to shine.
Her appearance on screen became regular when
Edward Seddoh Junior, the writer of Things We Do For
Love, invited her to play the role of Enyonam Blagogee.
She later took part in Tentacles, Games People Play and
many other TV series.
BORN on December 5, 1983, Jackie is the last of her
parents' five children. She spent her early childhood in
Canada, and moved to Nigeria with her mother at age
10. She married in 2005, and has a son.
Her face can be seen on many billboards and TV
commercials in Ghana including a GSMF advert on
protection against HIV AIDS, she won the face of U.B in a
promotion she did for them on TV commercials and she
is currently the face of IPMC for commercials and
billboards.
The star actress spent last Christmas with inmates of the
Chosen Rehab Centre, Achimota-Abofo Road, Accra.
There, she made a donation of food items, drinks and
toiletries.
The actress, who has decided to identify a group of
needy people to celebrate her birthday with, each year,
was unable to do so in 2011 because on her birthday she
was filming in the Gambia.
As such, she decided to make her donation to the Centre
on Christmas Eve to bring joy to the inmates this festive
season. 1n 2010, she spent her birthday with the
children of the Dzorwulu Special School.

Aki Holiday With Wife in US

Pint-sized Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze popularly
known as Aki is at the moment staying off work in the
United States of America with his beautiful wife,
Nneoma.
The one half of Aki and Pawpaw, as sources revealed to
Us, travelled to 'God's own country' wife
his wife in order to relax and spend ample time with his
better half.
We learnt that the lovebirds are due to return to the
country very soon. Aki is one of the popular actors in
Nollywood. His marriage in 2011 put speculations that
his friend, Pawpaw was under pressure to also walk
down the aisle just like he (Aki) did.

Nadia Buari Vs Cab Driver

Beautiful and sexy Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari,
recently had what she bargained for in Abuja the last
time she came visiting. The multi-talented actress who
imprinted her presence in people's hearts for her
sensational role in 'Beyonce' we gathered had some
issues with a cab ma who she claimed on her twitter
handler as a fraud.
The drop-dead gorgeous actress whose beautiful façade
and happy demeanour is well known said that the cab
man played a fast one on her and she had to lose her
cool.
The story has it that the said cab driver, seeing that
Nadia is a Johnny-just-come, tried to gyp her by inflating
fares exorbitantly, not knowing that the actress, as
foreign as she looks, knows her way around the capital
city. An argument is said to have ensued between the
two over what should be a fair fare for the journey.
"Early morning temptation-this cab driver wanted to
dupe me and not so much about the money, but its just
the principle and then he yelled and insulted me when I
declined" Nadia later confirmed the incidence on her
twitter account.
" Honest to God I felt like grappling and beating the shit
out of him(if I could), because instead of him to be
bucolic about it, he was rather yelling at me. Just had to
keep my cool and ignore him, because in the end he
wasn't worth my fury. Dear God, thank you for the spirit
of stoicism, because I would have hurt him" she added.

She's currently in Uganda (pictured above with BBA
housemate, Kyle, who's a radio presenter in Uganda).
From there, she will go to Tanzania, then return to
Kenya where Prezzo is. Prezzo, we learnt has proposed
to Karen Igho.
Tongues are already wagging what Goldie has gone to
spend time with Prezzo for, knowing full-well that there
is an affair going on between the two.
Well, it won't be here you will read that Goldie's song 'Mo

Wizkid Part Way With Manager

Multiple reports claim that EME artiste, Wizkid has closed
down business with manager of five years, Osagie
Osarenkhoe. The incident, as reported, happened in
June but was shielded from the media so as it not blown
out of proportion.
Osagie works with M.et.al management outfit. She has
been person handling business matters relating to
Wizkid. Reason for their break-up is still not known, but
we gathered that it might bother around clash of
interest between Wizkid and Osagie.
Moreover, we gathered that Osagie still
has good working relationship with Skales and other EME
artistes.

Brad Pitt Vs Mother

"Brad Pitt is
choosing
President Obama over his own
mother!" declares Star magazine.
Uh-oh!
According to the tabloid's sources,
" Jane Pitt is furious that her son is
planning to publicly support the
Democratic candidate."
"Jane is as Republican as you can get
— she's very religious and against
gay marriage," explains an "insider,"
who's apparently a few months
behind everyone else.
The Star source adds, "The family
tries to avoid political discussions, but Jane was fuming
when Brad said he's going to support Obama. A big
argument erupted."
And the movie star is not backing down, says the tabloid.
"He is aware that this could cause a rift within his family,
but Brad plans on voicing his support for the President,"
states the magazine's insider.
Um, a couple of things.
First, we're not quite sure why the tabloids seem so
obsessed with turning Jane Pitt into an eternal source of
conflict who's supposedly (deep breath) an obstacle to
Pitt getting married, influencing his career decisions,
in a "holy war" with Angelina Jolie, and being used
as a pawn against Jennifer Aniston — but it's all
complete nonsense.
More importantly, how exactly would her son's support
for President Obama shock Jane Pitt?
She and Brad have known about each other's politics for
years.
They're not all of a sudden feuding over November's
election, and there's no new "rift within the family."
A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop the
speculation of a Jane-Brad squabble is "absurd."

Robbers try to blow up ATM,but blow up entire bank instead

MAINZ, Germany -- Robbers
attempted to blow up an ATM to get the cash inside
early Monday -- but ended up destroying the whole
bank.
They apparently used more explosives than necessary,
reducing the building in the small German town of Darup
to rubble and waking some local residents.
German police told NBC News Tuesday that they
suspect the incident was part of a nationwide
series of robberies in which the thieves put an
explosive gas mixture into ATMs and ignite it.
According to a police report, the robbers were
able to get a low four-figure sum of cash out of the
destroyed ATM. The robbers remained on the run
Tuesday.
The building in which the bank branch is located also
holds four apartments, which are now uninhabitable. No
one was hurt.
Other recent robberies in Germany have seen cars
being driven into jeweler's shop windows and bank
break-ins where thieves tied ropes around ATMs to pull
them out of the building with a vehicle.

Younger Version' of Mona Lisa Threatens to Replace Older Version

A highly controversial portrait believed by some art
experts to be a "younger version" of the Mona Lisa
currently hanging in the Louvre will be displayed today in
Geneva to coincide with the publication of a book
claiming it was painted by Leonardo da Vinci over a
decade earlier.
The so-called "Isleworth Mona Lisa" was discovered
nearly a century ago by British collector Hugh Blaker
and has since changed hands twice before being
purchased by an anonymous international consortium.
Teaming up with art experts to form the Mona Lisa
Foundation, the painting's owners aim to prove the
"Isleworth Mona Lisa" was painted by da Vinci 11 or 12
years before the version art afficiandos have come to
know and love.
"So far, not one scientific test has been able to disprove
that the painting is by Leonardo," art historian Stanley
Feldman told the Associated Press.
Feldman is a member of the foundation and the lead
author of Mona Lisa: Leonardo's Earlier Version.
"When we do a very elementary mathematical test, we
have discovered that all of the elements of the two
bodies - the two people, the two sitters - are in exactly
the same place," he said. "It strikes us that in order for
that to be so accurate, so meticulously exact, only the
person who did one did the other ... It's an extraordinary
revelation in itself, and we think it's valid."
But other experts aren't so sure.
Da Vinci specialist Martin Kemp of Oxford University said
that, just as Leonardo's hand in the painting can't be
disproved, it similarly can't be definitively proved.
"So much is wrong," he told The Sunday Times. "The
dress, the hair and background landscape. This one is
also painted on canvas, which Leonardo rarely did. She
might look younger but this is probably because the
copyist, and I believe it is a copy done a few years after
the Mona Lisa, just painted it that way."

Presidential Halloween Mask Sales: Obama Beating Romney

President Barack Obama is beating
Mitt Romney not only in the polls,
but also in sales of presidential-
themed Halloween masks.
This year, Obama masks are
outselling Romney masks by more
than 30 percent, according to the
sales records at BuyCostumes.com
and Spirit Halloween Stores, two
popular seasonal retailers.
BuyCostumes.com statistics said
Obama is up 30 percentage points
over Romney, and Spirit Halloween
has Obama mask sales figures at
69 percent vs. 31 percent for the
Romney version.
Skeptics might say the costume poll
is just window dressing meant to
mask the real issues, but ABC News
reports that BuyCostumes mask
sales have correctly predicted the
victor in the past three elections,
while Spirit's mask sales have been
right in the past four.
"Our presidential index has proven
to be a consistent and accurate
predictor of the next president for
nearly two decades," Spirit
Halloween company CEO and
president Steven Silverstein told
NewsMax.
For instance, Spirit Halloween
figures show that Bill Clinton outsold
Bob Dole by 71 percent to 29;
George W. Bush outsold Al Gore by
57 percent to 43; Bush outsold John
Kerry by 65 percent to 35; and
Obama outsold John McCain by 60
percent to 40.
Just because a candidate's mask is
selling well in a particular state
doesn't mean he will win there.
The BuyCostumes.com website
features a graph that shows Barack
Obama masks are beating Mitt
Romney masks in Texas, a state
that most pollsters would agree is
firmly Republican.
Meanwhile, Romney mask sales are
beating Obama in Massachusetts,
which, by all accounts, should go to
the President on election day.
Interestingly enough, Paul Ryan is
making up 100 percent of GOP-
themed Halloween masks in
Alabama, according to
BuyCostumes.com.
Joe Biden's best state is North
Carolina, where his mug is
responsible for 49 percent of
Democratic mask sales.

'Casual Vacancy' By J.K. Rowling's;What the Critics Are Saying About Her First Post-Harry Potter Book

J.K. Rowling's first post-Harry
Potter book is set to hit bookstores
Thursday.
Two million hardcover copies of The
Casual Vacancy, which also marks
Rowling's first novel for adults, will be available in U.S.
bookstores, in addition to a digital edition. It also will be
released Thursday in the United Kingdom, Canada,
Australia, New Zealand and Germany.
So what do the critics have to say about Rowling's novel?
Below are excerpts from several reviews:
"It quickly becomes clear that this is not the book we
might have been expecting. Recently arrived social
worker Kay's first visit to a drug-addict mother of two at
her home in the Fields brings us into the very heart of
the world that the hawks on the parish council would like
to simply wish away. It is a heart-in-the-mouth passage,
taut with dread, invoking in the reader a vivid mirror of
Kay's own fear, revulsion, anger, compassion and
sorrow. ... There is villainy, from domestic violence to
sexual abuse, including a rape scene that is most
shocking in its banality for both parties. Neither the
victims nor their assailants expect justice from any
external agency, and nor should the reader: There are
few resolutions, and no promises of wish-fulfillment. This
is undoubtedly where the book takes its greatest risks.
One marvels at the skill with which Rowling weaves such
vivid characters in and out of each other's lives,
rendering them so complex and viscerally believable that
one finds oneself caring for the worst of them. However,
upon hearing the cries of so many souls in pain, the
more sensitive reader might begin to crave a leavening
of hope, or to fear that Rowling's own cry is one of
despair." -- Christopher Brookmyre of the U.K.'s
Telegraph
"So look, here's the thing: This. Is. Not. A. Children's.
Book. If you're looking for what made Harry Potter
magical - Wizards! Spells! Flying Broomsticks! -- you're
not going to find it. If you're looking for what makes J.K.
Rowling magical -- emotion, heart -- you will. ... [The]
ability to bring her characters to their emotional life was
a hallmark of the Harry Potter series -- it didn't become a
global phenomenon just because it was an exciting
adventure, but because there was a real heart to it,
characters who had both strengths and weaknesses, who
struggled with their choices. That's what makes this book
worth it, despite a slow start and sometimes too much of
the descriptions and adjectives that added life to Harry
Potter but at times tend to bog Rowling down here.
That's what makes the book's ending scenes so
heartbreaking -- turning the page seems unbearable, but
not as much as putting down the book would be." ---Deepti Hajela of the Associated Press
"The Casual Vacancy will certainly sell, and it may also
be liked. There are many nice touches, including
Rowling's portrait of the social worker's gutless
boyfriend, who relishes how, in an argument with a lover,
you can 'obscure an emotional issue by appearing to
seek precision.' The book's political philosophy is
generous, even if its analysis of class antagonisms is
perhaps no more elaborate than that of Caddyshack.
And, as the novel turns darker, toward a kind of Thomas
Hardy finale, it hurtles along impressively. But whereas
Rowling's shepherding of readers was, in the Harry
Potter series, an essential asset, in The Casual Vacancy
her firm hand can feel constraining. She leaves little
space for the peripheral or the ambiguous; hidden
secrets are labeled as hidden secrets, and events are
easy to predict. We seem to watch people move around
Pagford as if they were on Harry's magical parchment
map of Hogwarts." -- Ian Parker of The New Yorker
"The Casual Vacancy, which one bookseller breathlessly
predicted would be the biggest novel of the year, isn't
dreadful. It's just dull. ... [The town-citizen characters]
are all deluded in their own way with their own tales to
tell. The problem is, not one of them is interesting or
even particularly likeable. Collectively, it's all too easy to
turn the page on them. It's the teenagers then who bear
the burden of making us care. And while Rowling more
successfully builds drama on this front, the problem is
she hasn't much new to add to the annals of adolescent
strife. Ditto on drug-infested poverty. We've read it
before, darker, bleaker and better. Rowling's strength
was never her prose. It was her ability to create
unforgettable characters and weave stories that held us
captive. The magic simply isn't there in The Casual
Vacancy." -- Sherryl Connelly of the New York Daily News
"The Casual Vacancy is no masterpiece, but it's not bad
at all: intelligent, workmanlike, and often funny. I could
imagine it doing well without any association to the
Rowling brand, perhaps creeping into the Richard and
Judy Book Club, or being made into a three-part TV
serial. The fanbase may find it a bit sour, as it lacks the
Harry Potter books' warmth and charm; all the
characters are fairly horrible or suicidally miserable or
dead. But the worst you could say about it, really, is that
it doesn't deserve the media frenzy surrounding it. And
who nowadays thinks that merit and publicity have
anything do with each other?" -- Theo Tait of the U.K.'s
Guardian.

Is It True That Beautiful/Handsome People Live Better Lives?

This article may be comical to some readers but maybe
it has some truth. Less than a decade ago, BBC
published an article citing a research by Dr. Nancy
Etcoff, a Harvard University psychologist. Dr. Etcoff
mentioned in her book Survival of the Fittest, that
attractive men and women are in advantage from the
beginning of life. Dr. Etcoff's work also cites that:
"Mothers are more likely to make a fuss of pretty
babies. Teachers think good-looking pupils are "smarter
and more sociable". Police officers, judges and juries
are more lenient towards beautiful people. If you break
down in your car, the better looking you are the more
likely someone is to stop and help you out".
I have concluded this research to be factual. When I
made an attempt to notice how people were treated in
everyday life, my observations made me laugh when I
noticed how quick men were to open doors for a
beautiful woman or gawk at her in the grocery store isle.
I also noticed how job websites only portray an
attractive person in order for one to apply. Likewise for
men, I noticed how a handsome man is given more
attention by female employees in shopping stores when
in need of help.
In the cases of babies, I have witnessed people
compliment parents with attractive children.
Lastly, I can believe a complete stranger helping a
gorgeous damsel in distress when her car should break
down-and then turning around to ask for her number!
In your opinion, do you think beautiful/handsome people
live better lives considering the fact that, they tend to
get a lot of favors and cut around things?

Jim Carrey To Star In Dumb And Dumber

The name of the 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel has
been confirmed as 'Dumb and Dumber To'.
The Farrelly Brothers - who are directing the movie
- revealed the film's name on their twitter page,
following months of rumors.
They wrote: "You also might be interested to know
that we are almost done with the Dumb and
Dumber To (sic) script. I think you're going to like
it. (sic)"
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are both reported to
be on board to reprise their roles as Lloyd
Christmas and Harry Dunne respectively in the
follow-up to the 1994 comedy, and filming is
scheduled to begin shooting next year, working
around Jeff's commitment to TV drama 'The
Newsroom'.
The sequel centers around one of the duo seeking
out their long-lost child for a kidney transplant.
While 'Dumb and Dumber' was a huge hit, the
2003 prequel 'Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry
Met Lloyd' wasn't a great success and critics
believe it was because it was made without the
involvement of the Farrellys or Jim and Jeff.

Pop Star KE$HA HAD SEX WITH A GHOST

The cute singer has revealed that one of her new
tracks 'Supernatural' was inspired by an erotic
paranormal experience.
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio
show, she said: "I also have this song called
'Supernatural'. It's about experiences with the
supernatural ... but in a sexy way ... I had a couple
experiences with the supernatural ... I don't know
his name! He was a ghost! I'm very open to it."
Kesha, 25, also revealed her upcoming album
'Warrior' is inspired by a spiritual quest she went
on to find a new sound - which included traveling
to Africa to feed baby lions.
She explained: "The theme of this record is magic.
I went on a spirit journey by myself. No security
guard. No managers. I just went around the world
and lived on a boat.
"I was in Africa rehabilitating baby lions. I went
diving with great white sharks, and just went on
this crazy spirit quest.
"I got hypnotized, and I just really wanted this
record to be really positive, really raw, really
vulnerable and about the magic of life."

FOR THE LADIES: Your Makeup-Is It On or Off?Wear It Right

Considering that almost all women love to makeup, and
most importantly given how much horrible makeup I
have seen both on and off GhanaCelebrities.Com-on
regular folks and our 'prized' celebrities, I have found it
imperative to share a few tricks to getting it right. You
do not have to look hideous just because you cannot
afford a personal stylist.
I must mention though that we all need makeup. Even
though many women believe not wearing makeup puts a
point across as to how beautiful they are naturally-I will
tell you why we need makeup.
REASONS
It protects your skin from harsh environmental
conditions
When we step out, we are exposed to many harsh
weather conditions. Your naked skin is prone to all the
impurities flying around. These impurities attach
themselves directly onto your skin and literally attack
your skin. With no protective layer, they will irritate and
eventually leave their mark.
It enhances and evens out your natural features
There is beauty in every woman but sometimes that
beauty can be hidden under improper personal care. So
start loving yourself a little and pamper that face.
Makeup will not make you pretty overnight but the right
eyeliner can draw more attention to your gorgeous
eyes.
Confidence
We cannot separate a woman's emotions from her need
to look pretty. From lawyers through to celebrities to
cleaners, every woman will choose a pretty look over a
not so pretty one.
Makeup giving you confidence does not mean you are
emotionally weak.
At least it prevents you from wondering if the person
you are talking to is looking at the dark spots or circles
on your face so you can focus on more important issues.
We all need that boost here and there.
Bear in mind however that what works for lady A, may
not work for you or Lady B. So when Lady A wears bright
pink lipstick, perhaps you shouldn't run to the shop for
the same tone too quickly.
Your flawless look may just lie in a beige or maroon
colored lipstick.
Don't copy trends without looking in the mirror.
If something doesn't look good on you, don't risk the
clown look or ridicule…change it, try something else.
Choosing and applying foundation and powder
When you step into a cosmetic shop, be careful not to
get overwhelmed by all the different things on the aisles
screaming at you.
Look for a foundation that matches your skin tone. The
wrong foundation can make an otherwise beautiful
woman look like a corpse. This is not your aim.
Let's use MAC for the sake of explanation
All foundations and powders are assigned a number. It is
hard to go in and be able to pick exactly what works for
you. But take your time, test and you will find your
shade.
The number ranges are many to cater to everybody. If
you are dark, you shouldn't go for light tones. You
should be looking at NW instead of looking at NC ranges.
Most MAC shades numbers begin with 15 which is the
lightest/palest shade and go up in steps of 5…15, 20, 25,
30 and on. It follows that the highest number is the
darkest in that range. There are several ranges which
the numbers fall under-
C Cool – makeup foundation for yellow or olive
complexions
NC Neutral Cool – makeup foundation or golden and
beige skin
N Neutral – makeup foundation for beige skin
NW Neutral Warm – makeup foundation for pink beige
skin
W Warm – makeup foundation for pinkish skin
Bear in mind that most black women have Beige, Golden
Beige or Olive skin tones. Do not go choose makeup
meant for pink skin tones!
Like I said, it takes awhile to study and choose what goes
with your tone. But the 30 minutes or so is worth getting
it right.
This may be the reverse for other makeup lines
It's always obvious when you wear the wrong shade.
People are shocked by the simple look of you even from
afar.
And always pick a powder that matches with the
foundation you wear. Because mismatched colours all
on one face can make you look hideous…Remember the
aim is not to be a walking siren but to be beautiful.
Makeup doesn't end with foundation and powder but it is
the basic. I will return with a continuation where we will
look at lipsticks, Mascara, false lashes and other
enhancers including how to apply all these correctly.
If you have chosen to wear makeup, do it right so
nobody gets scared in the process.
In the meantime, since I am not the final authority on
makeup, I say, feel free to tailor my ideas to suit your
look and the occasion and time of day or night.
You should also feel free to amend or add to my opinion.

Convicted Rapist Fighting For Visitation Rights With The Child He Fathered During The Attack

A Massachusetts man is seeking visitation rights to
the child he fathered after raping a 14-year-old girl,
setting the stage for a legal battle in the Bay State.
The teen mother was raped by the 20-year-old
family friend three years ago and says she still
suffers from severe anxiety and depression. She
says she is terrified at the prospect of having any
dealings with her tormentor, reports
MyFoxBoston.com.
"All this family wants is to cut the cord. Get the rapist
out of their lives," said Wendy Murphy, attorney for
family of rape victim. The victim and her family are
fighting back, saying the toddler's biological father is
only showing interest in the family now that the child
support bill is coming due.
"She got raped at 14. She decided to keep her baby.
And now she has to hand her baby over for a visit
with her rapist?" the victim's mother told the station.
This is just outright craziness. There wouldn't even be
a child if this savage didn't rape this poor teenage girl
in the first place; but on the other hand, there is the
issue of the child being able to at least have some
type of relationship with the biological father.
Do you think this man should be allowed to visit the
child he fathered during a rape?
