David Blaine On Electrocution Stunt
Electrified: One Million Volts Always
On, will take place in New York next
week.
In a YouTube trailer for the stunt,
Blaine stands on a metal pedestal
wearing a futuristic mesh suit and a
globe-shaped wire helmet as
electrical bolts hit him from all
directions.
Blaine said he will stand between two
electrodes and allow a million volts to
flow through his grounded body.
Any disruption in the stream could
stop his heart.
The event will be streamed live over
the internet.
Blaine, 39, is known for his endurance
stunts, including sitting in a glass box over the River
Thames in London for over a month.
His last stunt was hanging upside down without a net
high over New York's Central Park for 60 hours in 2008.
His other stunts include being entombed in an
underground plastic box underneath a 3-ton water-filled
tank in 1999, being encased in a block of ice for 63
hours in 2000.
Davido Vs Wizkid
between him and Wizkid and even tell everyone who
cares to listen that the Pakurumo singer is his 'brother'
but insider sources say that is far from the truth.
Before Davido bursted into limelight, he and Wizkid were
unknown to each other but that soon changed once
Davido also became a household name and they both
got to meet and struck a chord of friendship until
sometime in May when the cordial relationship went
sour.
According to an insider who knows the duo well and the
source of their no-love lost relationship, Wizkid was
chilling at a hotel somewhere on the Island and
apparently wasn't having a great time so he decided to
put a call through to his friend, Davido who at the time
was hanging out with five other friends of his. The Omo
Baba Olowo then instructed his aide to go and pick
Wizkid at a hotel behind 1004 building on VI.
In no time, Wizkid had joined Davido and his group of
friends at a club in the civic centre where they had some
drinks before carrying the party to Movida on Idowu
Taylor, VI. While there, Davido ordered some bottles of
Hennessey for himself and two other friends who had
just joined them and as they drank, Wizkid became tipsy
and frail as he had one drink too many on the night.
Immediately, he was carried to Davido's car parked
outside where he allegedly threw up. All this while,
Davido was nowhere to be found as he abandoned his
colleague and friend.
After a while, the bar tenders produced the bill which
was about N500,000 and since Davido had disappeared
into thin air and bulking under pressure to pay the bills,
Davido's aide took the bar tenders to Wizkid's home
where he was forced to issue a cheque to cover their
unpaid expenses.
This singular act put a strain on their relationship as
Wizkid felt let down by Davido. Already, their relationship
had been tested following the bitter break-up of Mo'Hits
as both artistes had their allegiances divided between
Don Jazzy on one hand, and Dbanj on the other.
But what would finally prove to be the proverbial straw
that broke the camel's back was when Davido was
sending out invitation to guests for the launch of his
O.B.O Album and he didn't send any to Wizkid. And to
add salt upon injury, Davido and his crew reportedly
sauntered out on a Wizkid performance to the
consternation of many at the NEA couple of weeks back
in New York.
With these series of events coupled with Davido's denial
and Wizkid's obvious silence in the face of all the 'beef'
rumor, isn't obvious that all is not well between these
two super stars? On Wizkid's part, could this be the
moment when 'silence is golden?' Time will tell.
Monarchs Exchange In Fighting Spree
State Nigeria on the 2nd of Oct, 2012 exchanged
blows at a police station in the area.
www.naijagists.com
According to witnesses, the monarchs identified as The
Olu of Itori, Oba Akorede Akamo and the Baale of
Lapeleke, Chief Adisa Akinremi went to the police
headquarters on invitation in order to resolve an
ongoing dispute when the fight broke out.
We learnt Baale Akinremi had earlier complained
against Oba Akamo at the police station for disrupting a
cultural festival organized by Lapeleke people on
Monday night.
After the complain, Obama Akamo was invited to tell his
own side of the story.
After a few war of words, vexed Oba Akamo allegedly
slapped Baale Akinremi who immediately retaliated.
The Owu people, who are the indigenes of
Lapeleke Village, a neighbouring village of Itori,
were said to be celebrating the annual Owu
cultural and heritage renaissance festival when
Oba Akamo allegedly led a group of people to
disrupt the ceremony.
They were said to have shot sporadically into the air,
resulting in a stampede during which several people
were injured and property destroyed.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations
Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the matter had been
transferred to the command headquarters for further
investigation.
Mr Adejobi, an Assistant Superintendent of
Police, added that the Criminal Investigation
Department had taken over investigation into the
incident.
Daniel Craig Speaks About 007 Booze Switch
placement in Skyfall, crediting the beer company with
helping to finance the new James Bond movie.
Fans and critics alike were upset when producers
announced 007 would be swapping his signature martinis
for lager, claiming a sacred tradition had been broken.
However, Craig insists the latest blockbuster could not
have been made without the funds generated by the
marketing deal with the Dutch brand.
He tells Vanity Fair magazine, "A movie like this costs
$118 million to make - it's the nature of it, the size of the
movie. And it costs another $200 million to sell it. So the
$200 million has to come from somewhere.
"Product placement, whichever way you look at it,
whether you like it or you think it's disgusting or
whatever, it's what it is. Heineken gave us a ton of money
for there to be Heineken in a shot in a bar... Without
them, the movie couldn't get sold."
Craig insists the superspy doesn't discriminate when it
comes to booze: "He likes a lot of drinks - Heineken,
Champagne. It's all in there."
'Iron Man' Shoot Resumes.
franchise started up again this week almost a month
after Robert Downey, Jr. was injured on set.
The actor, who plays billionaire crimefighter Tony Stark in
the blockbusters, suffered an ankle injury in August
during a stunt sequence, forcing the movie to shut down
so he could recover.
After a month of recuperating, Downey, Jr. returned to
work in Miami, Florida earlier this week to begin shooting
the remaining scenes. The film is due out in May 2013,
and also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Guy
Pearce.
What makes a good celeb memoir?
Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story, is the former
Governator's first step on the road to image
rehabilitation, as he tries to repair a reputation badly
tarnished by his extramarital dalliances and separation
from wife Maria Shriver.
Hey, the guy kept on going after being shot, burned and
crushed in the Terminator movies. Fixing his image
should be no problem.
But the reviews suggest Total Recall is nothing of the
sort, with Schwarzenegger offering no scandalous details
about the affair with his housekeeper that resulted in him
fathering a now-teenaged son. And despite the ongoing
allegations of sexual assault that have dogged the 65-
year-old Schwarzenegger for years, it sounds like there
are no new confessions of inappropriate behaviour to be
found in the weighty tome's 646 pages.
Arnie surely knows how best to market himself, but with
all due respect to the man who could probably still
terminate us without breaking a sweat, here are the five
ingredients that make a truly good celebrity memoir.
Juicy details
It's not a tell-all if you don't tell all, duh. From rock stars
who detail their backstage drug shenanigans to actors
who reveal their sexual kinks, a good tell-all needs to
have gritty, gooey details we've never heard before.
Schwarzenegger apparently spends one vague
paragraph talking about the affair with his housekeeper.
We were kind of hoping he'd have said to her, "Your
clothes. Give them to me. Now."
Humanizing stories
Readers want the scoop on the wild and inappropriate
behaviour, but they also want to know about dark times,
the stints in rehab, the contemplated suicides, and how
the famous person dealt with these. We all have to
handle crap in our lives, and knowing celebs are not
above this can make us feel more like them. Until we
return to our dreary, low-paying, fame-free jobs.
Apologies when needed
Apologizing for bad behaviour is a tricky line to walk. You
don't want to come across as insincere or weak --
sometimes we do bad stuff just because we feel we need
to, and maybe apologizing for that is disingenuous. But
when people have been truly wronged, you've got to look
them in the eye and tell them you're sorry. And it's great
for your image, too.
Introspection
Who am I? How did I get here? Am I happy with what I've
become? Another complaint coming from reviews of
Total Recall is Schwarzenegger spends a lot of time
telling readers what he's accomplished, but doesn't turn
a critical eye inward. Without this, a tell-all is just a really
long resume.
Lessons learned
If the hero at the end of a novel hasn't learned anything
from his adventures, it's not much of a story. So it goes
with celebrity memoirs as well. Aside from the dirt, the
humanity, the mea culpas and the navel-gazing, we need
to know what the famous person has learned from all
these experiences, even if the book only covers part of
the celeb's life. It doesn't hurt to also let readers know
there's still more to come. Or as Arnie says in Predator
when he pins a bad guy to the wall with a machete: "Stick
around."
Nick Cannon: American Idol Producers Leaked Video Footage Of Brawl.
American Idol producers of leaking video footage of his
wife and Nicki Minaj's judging dispute during an audition
on Tuesday to boost interest in the revamped talent
show.
The TV personality and actor was bombarded with
questions about the tiff, which was leaked to news
website TMZ.com, when he arrived for an interview with
Access Hollywood Live hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on
Wednesday, but quickly dismissed the "catfight" as a
sidebar for the hit show.
And he took the opportunity to admonish producers for
leaking the footage.
Cannon stated, "I feel like it's taking away from the
quality of what Idol is all about; this is about people
accomplishing their dreams and experts guiding these
young people to do what they've done.
"I'm kind of disappointed in (TV network bosses at) Fox
because they're taking away from the quality of what Idol
is."
Asked if he thought the footage was leaded on purpose,
he added, "How else would all that stuff get on TMZ?"
And Cannon assured the hosts that his wife is unmoved
by all the drama: "My wife is the strongest and the
classiest woman that I've ever met. If you watch the
video she just maintains her composure ... I don't think
she's moved by the theatrics and the pageantry of it all.
"She signed up to do a job to help young people
accomplish their dreams and this is like a sidebar. I hope
that's not what this show becomes about - the catfights."
Good-natured Cannon then agreed to play fellow judge
Randy Jackson as Bush and Hoover reenacted the
squabble using a transcript from the video footage.
Carey and Minaj, the two new judges on the show, were
filming an audition in Charlotte, North Carolina when a
disagreement over a wannabe turned nasty.
In the video footage posted online, an angry Minaj shouts
and swears at the Hero hitmaker, telling producers, "I
told them, I'm not f**kin' putting up with her f**kin'
highness over there."
But Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe has shot down
unconfirmed reports that Minaj threatened to kill Carey
as the rant continued off camera.
Do you think the Nikki Minaj-Mariah Carey fight
was staged?
Usain Bolt and GT-R have 'no competition'
for either its 2013 GT-R or the world's fastest man.
Usain Bolt has been part of Nissan's advertising campaign
for the GT-R since June this year, and according to a
company video clip, both are in a league of their own.
Bolt, who is, of course sponsored by Nissan, just happens
to own the latest GT-R, and the Japanese carmaker is out
to keep pace with the Jamaican sprint superstar's
incredible run of success.
Bolt will next week make his first visit to Japan since the
London Olympics and Nissan is throwing a party for "the
most naturally gifted athlete the world has ever seen".
As a result, the "no competition" advert featuring Bolt and
the GT-R is getting plenty of airtime.
The ad points out that Bolt is in a class of his own and then
lists achievements/accolades for the GT-R in a similar way.
Bolt's list of achievements include winning three gold
medals and breaking three world records at the 2008
Olympic Games in Beijing and then defending all three
titles at the London Olympics. Nissan claims the same
things for the GT-R as it has world record lap times at the
Nurburgring and numerous international awards.
Mitt Romney Wins Presidential Debate.
greatest political orator of his generation, was left
rambling and flat footed many times during the first
presidential debate.
Moments after the debate ended Mitt Romney was
declared the winner by TV commentators and millions
following it on social media.
As Mr Romney gave polished and often detailed answers,
the President looked down to his lectern to take notes,
occasionally shaking his head and giving a lop-sided smile.
Mr Romney, resplendent in Grand Old Party-issue blue suit,
red tie, US flag pin - a size or so larger than Mr Obama's -
mainly looked straight to his opponent during the
President's answers.
He looked better and surer for it, in a debate that will be
judged by many mainly on the impression the speakers
made rather than the content of their answers.
In the debate on domestic policy, those answers were
often detailed and heavy on jargon, as the two sparred
over debt, deficit, unemployment, regulation, healthcare
and the role of government.
Mr Romney made Mr Obama wear his incumbency,
constantly harking back to America's high unemployment -
he said it was 23 million, which is only half true because
that includes underemployment - and the US$16 trillion
debt.
Mr Obama did not use many of the attack lines expected
of him. He did not mention Mr Romney's notorious "47 per
cent" comments, and was long minutes into the discussion
over healthcare before he pointed out that "Obamacare" -
a term he said he had come to like - was modelled on Mr
Romney's policy when governor of Massachusetts.
Nor did Mr Obama raise Mr Romney's background at his
company Bain Capital, nor his low tax rate, all areas his
campaign has spent millions attacking.
In the discussion of spending cuts, Mr Romney found a
clear line to defend a hawkish Republican position, telling
the host, Jim Lehrer: "What things would I cut from
spending? Well, first of all, I will eliminate all programs by
this test, if they don't pass it: is the program so critical it's
worth borrowing money from China to pay for it? And if
not, I'll get rid of it."
He stood by his declaration that he would balance the
budget only by cutting spending rather than increasing
taxes.
Mr Obama sought to pin him down on his tax policy,
claiming his planned 20 per cent across-the-board cut
would cost $5 trillion and, as a result, would either blow out
the budget or force the tax take from the middle class to
go up.
Mr Romney denied the charge, claiming he could find the
increased revenue by closing loopholes. He again declined
to name the loopholes.
When it came to the role of government, Mr Obama said
its first duty was to protect Americans, a clear nod towards
his killing of Osama bin Laden, before he quoted Abraham
Lincoln saying there were things better done collectively
than individually.
As expected, Mr Romney stood by the primacy of the
individual but said those unable to look after themselves
should be supported.
He also appeared to coin a new phrase, declaring his
opposition to "trickle-down economics".
Before the debate, analysts had said that given Mr
Obama's narrow but consistent lead in national and swing-
state polls, Mr Romney needed a clear victory in the
debate to reinvigorate his campaign.
It seems he has done that.
$10 Million of Marijuana Growing Found on Chicago's South Side.
pot growing in a field on Chicago's South Side. The
plants, some of which were ten feet tall, took up a plot
of land the size of two football fields. Even with so much
weed, authorities only found the field during a routine
helicopter patrol, and even that was mostly due to luck,
according to Cook County Sherriff's officer Ed Graney.
"I may not have noticed it myself, except I happened
to glance down at the right time," Graney said.
It wasn't until police investigated on the ground that they
realized how massive the crop was.
"It's surrounded by tall grass, and basically it's a huge
field you wouldn't see anywhere but from the air,"
Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told reporters
Wednesday.
All told, police found upwards of 1,500 plants. As of
Wednesday afternoon, the police had no leads, although
a lookout was spotted running from the crime scene.
No word if any police dogs accidentally got stoned
during the raid.
