that never takes a break, and
that's backed by his latest
hard-hitting action film, Parker.
Today FilmDistrict has unveiled
the trailer to Parker, which also

Chiklis, Wendell Pierce and

Based on the novels from

for dead on the side a road. Determined to make them
pay for their transgression, Parker locates them in the
land of the rich in Palm Beach Florida, where they are in
the middle of the biggest heist ever.
Incognito as a wealthy Texan, Parker joins forces with

Daniel Radcliffe in ‘Horns’
Joe Hill is one of the most exciting
authors in horror right now. There's a lot
of his stuff that I have to catch up on, but for my money,
his Locke & Key is the best currently running comic
books series. I haven't read his novel Horns, but I want
to before the movie based on it comes out. That might
be an odd way to begin a blurb that's about Daniel
Radcliffe, but Hill is the real draw for me with this movie.
And now EW has released the first promotional still for it.
I'm not saying that the movie doesn't have a lot going
for it besides the source material, though. Radcliffe,
continuing to go interesting places after the end of the
you-know-what series, calls his role "deeply emotional
and also incredibly outrageous in some ways." Which
makes sense, since he plays a character who grows
devil horns and discovers that he can now control minds
after he's accused of the rape and murder of his
girlfriend. Combine that with director Alexandre Aja
(best known for Haute Tension), and you have a terrific
recipe for something dark, vivid, and memorable.
Below, you can see how The Daniel Radcliffe horns will
look in the film. They look kind of fakey, but that's to be
expected from a preliminary glimpse.

Prisoners: Jake Gyllenhaal Vs Hugh Jackman

suiting up to play a police officer again in Prisoners, an
upcoming thriller with Hugh Jackman and Melissa Leo.
As reported by Hitfix, Jackman stars as a Boston man
who kidnaps a person he suspects to be behind the
disappearance of his young daughter and her best
friend, with Gyllenhaal playing a by-the-books detective
who opposes Jackman's vigilantism. Aaron Guzikowski
(Contraband) wrote the original screenplay for the film.
Set to be released by Warner Bros. in the fall of 2013,
production is expected to begin very early next year.
French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve, best known
for the 2010 Oscar-nominated film Incendies, is helming
the picture, making this film his second collaboration
with Gyllenhaal. Their first film together, An Enemy, is
currently in post-production and set for release in
Canada sometime in 2013 (the movie has yet to secure
U.S. distribution.) Based on the José Saramago novel,
the thriller centers on a man who seeks out his exact
look-alike after spotting him in a movie. The film also
stars Sarah Gadon, Mélanie Laurent, and Isabella
Rossellini.
With its release set in the fall and an Oscar-nominated
director attached, Prisoners will likely receive a big
awards season push from Warner Bros. But since that's
only eight-to-ten months away and cameras haven't
started rolling yet, that release date will likely change.
We will be sure to give you more updates on this project
as they develop.
The Croods
DreamWorks
Animation
always finds room for stars in
their animated features, and
their latest offering is no
exception. Today, the studio
released the first official trailer
for The Croods, an animated
adventure starring Nicolas
Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan
Reynolds. The new movie is
directed by Kirk DeMicco and
Chris Sanders, the Academy
Award-nominated duo behind
Lilo & Stitch and How to Train
Your Dragon.
The official plot synopsis states that "when their cave is
destroyed, the Crood family is forced to embark on an
adventure into a pre-historic world in search of a new
home." This differs slightly from the initial plot summary
that was reported when the casting of Cage and
Reynolds was announced in 2010. According to those
early reports, the story will also feature Cage's cautious
patriarch butting heads with the nomadic and risk-taking
caveman played by Reynolds. The trailer, on the other
hand, doesn't feature Reynolds' character at all, and
suggests that the film will center on Stone's character as
a headstrong, crusading heroine. Kathrine Keener, Clark
Duke, and Cloris Leachman round out the rest of the
cast.
The film will appear in 3D and conventional theaters on
March 22, 2013.

Lincoln: Spielberg Upcoming Movie
Debuting the same night as the first
2012 Presidential Debate, the second
trailer for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln reminds us why
Honest Abe was arguably the greatest president in U.S.
history.
Opening with a montage of important events in
American history, including Martin Luther King Jr.'s
March on Washington, WWII, and post-9/11 New York,
this new trailer explicitly targets the immense political
strife and violence that ripped the nation apart during
The Civil War. Drawing parallels to political leaders as
varied as Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Ghandi (both of
whom have had big, Hollywood biopics made of their
life), the focus of the trailer is, appropriately enough, all
on Lincoln.
Lincoln's powerful, final words in the trailer, "I am
President of the United States of America, clothed with
immense power!" are taken directly from records of the
Congressional on the 13th Amendment abolishing
slavery, which came down to the wire. Lincoln gave that
speech to procure the two votes he needed for the
amendment to pass.
You can check out all the civil unrest, bloody battles, and
stovepipe hats for yourself when Lincoln opens in
theaters November 16th.

‘Skyfall’ Theme Finally Released
Friday, October 5th, 2012 marked the 50th anniversary
of James Bond on film. That's right, half a century ago,
Sean Connery walked into a gambling casino in a cream-
colored tuxedo and defined the new standard for
cinematic cool: "Bond. James Bond."
Dr. No (1962) was the beginning of many now-famous
Bond traditions, none more famous than the opening
theme song. So, what better way to celebrate James'
birthday with the release of the newest theme, Adele's
"Skyfall"?
Big, brassy, soulful and stylish. Sounds like the makings
of a classic Bond theme.
You can purchase the theme on iTunes, where it quickly
claimed the #1 download spot.
Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel
Craig, Judy Dench, and Javier Bardem, opens November
9th.

Sacha Baron Cohen Set To Develop New Movie Titled "The Lesbian"
Sacha Baron Cohen and his
production company, Four by Two, will develop a new
film for Paramount Pictures entitled The Lesbian. The
idea stemmed from recent press surrounding a
billionaire from Hong Kong who was willing to pay $65
million to any man who could land his daughter's hand in
marriage. The only catch? She's a lesbian who recently
married her longtime partner in Paris. Good luck
gentlemen, your work is cut out for you.
Cohen is notorious for taking the latest, most absurd
headlines and making them into hilariously offensive
films. His latest venture, The Dictator, was based on the
personal life of the late Colonel Moammar Qaddafi', a
Libyan dictator. Cohen's other box office hits include
2006′s Borat and 2009′s Brüno. The films were about a
fictitious Khazaki journalist named Borat and his explots
while traveling across America and a down on his luck
Austrian fashion journalist, Brüno, who comes to
America in search of a new start. These descriptions
may sound tame, but don't let them fool you – Cohen's
movies are nothing but tame.
After feeling sufficiently uncomfortable during Borat, I
haven't been back to see another of his films. Granted
there was some occasional nervous laughter on my part,
it just wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe because I'm not a
17-year old boy? Anyway, Cohen's ideas must resonate
with some audience or else he wouldn't keep getting
movie deals. Hopefully for Cohen The Lesbian fares
better than The Dictator did, that movie was a domestic
box office flop.

Liam Neeson: Taken 2
Taken 2 hits 3,661 theaters this weekend, making it the
second largest release in history for a live-action in
October.
The first Taken became an instant favorite for movie-
goers, debuting to a surprising $24 million in 2009. At
the end of its run, the film earned an incredible $145
million and despite its simple concept and theme, the
film remains largely popular even after three years.
Taken star Liam Neeson used his newly acquired action
clout and have starred in a few other action movies such
as Clash of the Titans, Wrath of the Titans, Battleship
and The Grey. None of which came even close to the
money and popularity of the first Taken.
Watch Taken 2 trailer
Take 2 is expected to attract a decent crowd this
weekend, despite receiving some crushing reviews from
critics. "Lazy and undeserving of Neeson," Jeremy Kirk
of Firstshowing.net, wrote in his piece describing the
action scenes in the movie. Although, bad reviews
probably wont deter fans from seeing the movie this
opening weekend, but if fans feel the same as critics,
they may feel cheated, therefore killing the turn out and
its chance of matching the first Taken's numbers.

If You Don't Have Anything To Say.....
Let's say you find history of porn searches on your 13-
year-old's computer, and let's say it's not weird or violent
porn, but just run-of-the-mill, mildly off-putting porn. What
should you do? I'd say nothing, but maybe I'm wrong.
There was much ado this week on the internet about one
dad's rather sweet solution to this scenario.
He wrote a note to his son saying that he wouldn't tell the
kid's mum, and that he did the same thing as a kid, and
that there were sites safer for computers, which he listed.
He basically said, "I won't make a big deal or any-sized
deal about it," though he did go pretty deeply and
somewhat creatively into the dangers of pornography to
computers.
It is a quandary. What should you do in this garden-variety
situation?
The most sensible thing I have ever heard on this topic
came from the internet scholar Danah Boyd.
She pointed out very sanely and sensibly that this isolated
moment should be part of an ongoing, larger conversation
with your child.
One shouldn't view this discovery as an event in itself, but
more a part of the dialogue that has been going on for
years about sex, body image and all of that.
This seemed very wise and elegant to me as a child-
rearing philosophy.
But then when I think back to myself, at 13ish, looking
through someone's stash of Playboys at a friend's house, I
am not so sure about how it would work in practice.
I am quite certain that had my benignly feminist mother
walked in the door as my friend and I perused the
stewardesses and cowgirls au naturel, she would have
loved to interject about how "real woman don't look like
that" and deliver a mini-discourse on exactly why these
images do not represent "our values."
(She had only a few years earlier, after all, thrown out the
Barbie Beauty Palace my grandfather had given me and
told me it was "lost.")
But thinking back to that illicit confrontation with those
pictures, would her words have meant anything to me? Or
would they simply have reverberated, more parental
noise, more blah blah blah issued irrelevantly from above?
It seems to me that those first sexual stirrings, by their
very definition, are something you absolutely don't want to
talk to your parents about.
Isn't anything they say tainted, discounted, gross - just by
the very nature of their being parents? Sexual curiosities
are not something you want your parents to condemn,
condone or otherwise be chummy about.
Other people maybe - friends, an older cousin - but who on
earth wants to hear from their mother or father anything
at all about sex?
We sometimes act as though there are "facts" that we
must convey, as if only we, the parents, are in possession
of those facts.
But really, after the basic conversation, is it so bad for kids
to learn from books, from novels, from movies, from
school, from friends? (I am not here suggesting that we
should all be like Edith Wharton's mother, who when the
young Edith asked about the facts of life before being
married, said "you've seen enough pictures and statues in
your life.")
But short of that, is there some benefit in discretion, in
stepping back, in allowing kids to work things out for
themselves, offering help only when asked, or occasionally
if awkwardly trying to put out some pathetic message
about "our values."
We have, most of us, certainly imbibed the received idea
that we need to step in so our children are not warped,
destroyed or otherwise turned into perverts or masochists
by pornography.
But what if, in fact, even if those dangers are rampant,
there is nothing your parents can say that you will actually
hear?
Furthermore, the fantasy that no matter how many child
controls you have you can block off these images forever
is clearly futile, and possibly ominously over controlling.
In the end, kids probably learn most of what they know
about everyday relationships by watching their parents.
And in most cases, they probably do catch on that adult
life is not some triple-X fantasy of bubble-breasted girl-on-
girl pornography.
The intelligent 13-year-old is smarter than we think and
maybe doesn't need that note from his sweet father.
I know that we generally long to step in and clamour to
interpret the world, offering opinions, footnotes, guidance,
ideas about what to have for lunch. Much of childhood
sometimes seems like it is spent trying not to listen to your
parents.
But maybe that impulse toward explication is sometimes to
be resisted.
Quiet is harder, restraint requires more faith. Maybe there
is, when your 13-year-old is looking at not-that-ominous
porn, nothing to do.

Lady GaGa To Receive Peace Price
Lady Gaga will share a peace prize in memory of John
Lennon to honour her work campaigning for equality for
gay, lesbian and transgender people.
The American singer has been chosen along with four
others - including Russian punk band Pussy Riot and the
late writer Christopher Hitchens - to receive the biennial
LennonOno Grant For Peace.
Gaga is expected to accept the award and a donation from
Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, in Reykjavik, Iceland, on
October 9 - the birthday of John Lennon and his son, Sean.
Ono said in a statement Friday that while Gaga is "one of
the biggest living artists of our time" she is also an activist
whose album Born This Way altered "the mental map of
the world."

An Human Leg Found In Vancouver Waters
An human lower leg was discovered in
Vancouver waters Friday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m., two fishermen found the lower leg and foot
still wearing a running shoe under the Cambie Street
Bridge, which spans False Creek.
The B.C. Coroners Service has determined the remains
are human.
Mark Wellburn and his friends were heading toward Third
Beach to put out crab traps when they sailed past what
looked like a piece of floating wood. But questioning what
he'd really seen, Wellburn doubled back to make sure.
"It was a shoe floating upside down, with something
hanging down. We scooped it out with a net," Wellburn
said. "There were two leg bones attached to a shoe.
"I felt sick when we pulled it out. My stomach turned."
Wellburn said they called police and "20 minutes later,
there were about 10 of them who came out in a boat."
He said police told him the shoe was an exact match to
the one on a left foot discovered floating about 30
metres further along in August 2011.
Police said there is no indication of an identity at this
stage in the investigation, which will centre on identifying
the victim.
Police said foul play is not suspected at this time.
Since August 2007, at least 10 feet have been found
along the B.C. coast or in Sasamat Lake. Seven of those
feet have been matched to five individuals. The B.C.
Coroners Service has said none of the deaths appear to
be suspicious.
