Ian McShane, Eleanor Tomlinson and Bill Nighy also co-star in Jack and the Giant Slayer, directed by Bryan Singer. The film hits theaters March 1.

Box Office Preview: 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Eyeing Thanksgiving Win Over 'Rise of the Guardians,' 'Life of Pi'

A trio of films -- Rise of the Guardians, Life of Pi and Red Dawn -- open nationwide Wednesday, hoping to overcome their respective challenges and feast throughout the long Thanksgiving holiday.

But none is expected to topple Summit Entertainment's holdoverThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2 from the top perch.Breaking Dawn 2, with a domestic gross of $151.2 million, is expected to earn between $55 million and $60 million for the Wednesday-Sunday stretch.

Of the new offerings, DreamWorks Animation's Christmas-themed toon Rise of the Guardians has the best shot of coming in at No. 2. Last year, Disney's The Muppets grossed $41.5 million during the five-day Thanksgiving weekend, and tracking suggests that Rise of the Guardians will land in that range, though distributor Paramount is offering a more conservative estimate.

Rise of the Guardians, costing $145 million to make, is the final DWA pic that Paramount will distribute before its new deal with Fox kicks in.

The holiday season is officially here! And it will be a feast for moviegoers at theaters this Thanksgiving weekend.

The animated Rise of the Guardians opens Wednesday. Directed by Peter Ramsey, the animated-adventure is based on William Joyce's The Guardians of Childhood book series

The film -- whose voice cast includes Chris Pine, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman and Isla Fisher -- follows a team of holiday heroes who protects the children around the world from evil.

Meanwhile, Sacha Gervasi's biopic Hitchcock opens Friday. The drama focus on legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma Reville, during filming on 1959's Psycho.

Actor Anthony Hopkins portrays Hitchcock and Helen Mirren portrays Alma. Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Bielare also co-star in the biopic.

David Beckham Leaving L.A. Galaxy

The soccer star, whose final game with the club will be the MLS Cup 2012 on Dec. 1, says he's hoping to continue his relationship with the league by becoming "part of the ownership structure."

Soccer star David Beckham said Monday that he is leaving the L.A. Galaxy.
The midfielder said the MLS Cup 2012, which takes place Dec. 1, will be his final competitive game with the club, according to a news release posted on the L.A. Galaxy's website.

Beckham has spent six seasons with the Galaxy, helping lead team to three MLS Cup berths, including the third championship in club history in 2011 when they beat the Houston Dynamo at the Home Depot Center in front of a then-stadium record of more than 30,000.
"I've had an incredibly special time playing for the L.A. Galaxy; however, I wanted to experience one last challenge before the end of my playing career," Beckham said. "I don't see this as the end of my relationship with the league as my ambition is to be part of the ownership structure in the future."
The Galaxy credited Beckham with helping to raise the profile of the team and the league. In his six seasons with the team, he appeared in 98 regular-season games, tallying 18 goals and adding 40 assists -- the fourth most in club history.

“Seldom does an athlete redefine a sport, and David not only took our franchise to another level but he took our sport to another level,” said Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns the Galaxy. “It has been an honor and privilege to be a part of his world -- and more important, to have him be a part of ours.”
Added MLS commissioner Don Garber: “When David Beckham signed with the L.A. Galaxy in 2007, he set out to help grow MLS and the sport of soccer in North America. There is no doubt that MLS is far more popular and important here and abroad than it was when he arrived. David has achieved great things on and off the field during his time with the Galaxy, and he will always be an important part of our history. We look forward to his continued involvement with the L.A. Galaxy and the league.”
The Galaxy will play for the fourth MLS Cup title in club history and their second straight championship when they host the Houston Dynamo on Dec. 1. Kickoff time for the game, which will air live on ESPN and Telefutura, is 1:30 p.m.

Beckham, who has four children with wife Victoria Beckham, is managed by Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment.

Tolkien Estate Sues Warner Bros. Over 'Lord of the Rings' Slot Machines

Mere weeks before the release of the first film in the long-anticipated big-screen adaptation of The Hobbit, the estate of author J.R.R. Tolkien has sued the film's producers, claiming they are overstepping their rights when it comes to merchandising the property and The Lord of the Rings.

In an $80 million lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the Tolkien estate and its book publisher HarperCollins claim that Warner Bros., its New Line subsidiary and Rings/Hobbit rightsholder Saul Zaentz Co. have infringed the copyright in the famous books and breached a contract. The crux of the suit is the estate's contention that a decades-old rights agreement entitles the studio to create only "tangible" merchandise based on the books, not an "online slot machine" or other digital exploitations that the estate calls highly offensive.

"The original contracting parties thus contemplated a limited grant of the right to sell consumer products of the type regularly merchandised at the time such as figurines, tableware, stationery items, clothing and the like," the complaint states. "They did not include any grant of exploitations such as electronic or digital rights, rights in media yet to be devised or other intangibles such as rights in services."
Hence, the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Online Slot Game, which the estate claims it learned about via a spam e-mail to its atttorney in September 2010, caused it to investigate the scope of its rights agreement. The estate says it then learned that Warner Bros. is planning traditional slot machines with Rings characters, as well as other products outside the limited scope of its original rights deal.

It wants an injunction against the infringing games and other products that exceed the scope of the rights grant, as well as more than $80 million in damages.
The suit lays out the history of merchandising rights associated with Lord of the Rings and Hobbit, which began in 1969 with the Zaentz Co. Specifically, the suit alleges, the contract reserved rights "not herein specifically granted."

Oprah Winfrey believes there has never been a "star"
like Justin Bieber.
The chat-show host has revealed a clip from her
upcoming interview with the award-winning pop
sensation on Oprah's Next Chapter, in which she
discusses his rise to fame and compares his "screaming
fans" to those of legendary musicians such as Michael
Jackson.
After referring to the similarities between this interview
and her chat with the 'Thriller' hitmaker in 1993 she
says: "Justin Bieber is a phenomenon for our time and
just like Elvis Presley; just like the Beatles and also like
Michael Jackson he has millions of screaming fans all
over the world. He's adored by them."
The clip then shows a teaser of Oprah and Justin sat
together, with Oprah telling him: "There's never been a
star like you. Do you realise that?" to which the 18-year-
old singer responds: "What do you mean by that?"
She then proceeds to talk about how Justin is a "product"
of social media websites like twitter, which helped boost
his international success, as well as reminiscing about
when she used to obsess over Sir Paul McCartney.
She says: "Obviously lots of people compare your
audiences to Michael Jackson's audiences - the
screaming fans and your audience's to the Beatles fans.
I mean when I saw the crowd last night it reminded me
of myself and Paul McCartney, you know? But even
those tremendous legends who really changed the face
of music for our culture did not have a start-up like
yours because you are a product of, to a great extent,
social media. So therefore there's never been a star like
you."

Rihanna Is Sorry For Her 777 Tour… But WouldDo It All Over Again!

Somehow, we don't quite think this is what Rihanna
had in mind when hitting up seven different countries in
seven days for her 777 tour!
We previously told you about all the shiz that went down
on the Delta 777 jet, which flew 250 members of the
media, RiRi's entourage and fans across the globe!
Now the Diamonds songstress has stepped up to
apologize for the whole fiasco, which left many on
board food, sleep and sunlight deprived during its
chaotic trek!
Before Rihanna landed in NYC today — her last stop on
the tour — she took some time to address the situation
and say sorry!
From the back of the plane, RiRi stated:
"Guess what, we made it! This has been an
experience that I will never ever forget. I barely
slept. My sleeping was all done on this plane. I
want to thank everyone for making this trip the
sh–. I want to see the naked Australian!"
As for the journos who hardly got any time with her?
Rihanna explained:
"I know you guys got barely any dirt. But I had to
be good. I still sound like sh–. It's impossible to
spend time with everybody, and I'm sorry I didn't."
However, don't think all the mayhem caused Rihanna to
have any regrets!

What?! We were expecting a giant southern wedding!
Kelly Clarkson appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' show
on Tuesday and gushed about her boyfriend Brandon
Blackstock.
The Catch My Breath singer has been telling everyone
who will listen how much she loves her man, and even
thought she'd be engaged by summer. That didn't
happen, but she knows it will! Kelly said:
"Everyone thinks we are [engaged]. We're not.
We've actually been dating for nine months. We

point."

next album will NOT be named after the lead character
in their music-comic concept project!!
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin recently discussed the
band's forthcoming musical venture, and its title will
apparently be far easier on the tongue than Mylo
Xyloto.
Martin dished:
"The next one we're releasing is much easier to
pronounce."
Yaaay!
While we liked the whole idea behind the Mylo Xyloto
creation, our mouths twisted and turned every time we
tried to pronounce the name, so we're glad they're
going back to comprehensible wordage.
But what will the actual album SOUND like?! We're
hoping TONS of Jay-Z and Rihanna collabs… those
three just have the most pleasing of chemistries!

The generally lovely Cameron Diaz recently spouted
an, um, interesting opinion…
She claimed that all ladies secretly enjoy a little
objectification now and then!

"I think every woman does want to be objectified.
There's a little part of you at all times that hopes to
be somewhat objectified, and I think it's healthy."
Whaaaaa!!!!
Ok, we think what Cam is trying to say is that women
like being seen as sexually desirable beings…
But an object to be used? Why would anyone want to
be used?!
Of course most humans want to be seen as sexy
creatures, our bodies are beautiful creations and no
one should be ashamed to show off the goods…
But we can't imagine all women everywhere have a
deep down desire to be seen solely as pieces of ass to
be used for someone else's sexual gratification!
Right?!
But you know, looking back on Cameron's film choices
(Charlie's Angels, Bad Teacher), we kinda get where she
is coming from! Many roles she's taken require her to
take off her clothes, ensuring that producers make
bank off her naked bum.
We guess Cameron really doesn't mind being used like
an object for someone else's gain.

Not long after she told Scarlett Johansson all about
her magical honeymoon, Jessica Biel confessed she
wants hubby Justin Timberlake telling her how to act
— for the camera!
You see.. she got on the subject of potentially co-
starring with JT at the NYC premiere of Hitchcock.
She humored the idea, saying:
"I would if it was the right thing. Definitely. I don't
know what that is, though. I think you have to be
very careful about working with your partner. But

"I actually would prefer him to direct me in
something. I think that would be the way to go."
