Live Strong Foundation 'Disappointed' That Lance Armstrong 'Misled People'

Lance Armstrong World Cancer Congress - P 2012

The Live Strong Foundation -- formerly known as the Lance Armstrong Foundation -- said Thursday night that it is "disappointed" in Lance Armstrong on the heels of his admission to Oprah Winfrey that he used banned substances during his cycling career.
In the interview that aired on OWN, the retired cyclist told Winfrey that he used banned substances -- EPO, testosterone and human growth hormone -- as well as blood doping or blood transfusion to enhance his performance. The admission came after years of denials.

Armstrong also admitted that he used those methods in all seven of his Tour de France victories. Asked if he thought it was "humanly possible" to win seven times without doping, Armstrong replied: "Not in my opinion."
After the interview aired, the foundation -- a nonprofit organization that Armstrong founded in 1997 to provide support for people affected by cancer -- issued a statement.
“We at the Live Strong Foundation are disappointed by the news that Lance Armstrong misled people during and after his cycling career, including us," the organization said. "Earlier this week, Lance apologized to our staff and we accepted his apology in order to move on and chart a strong, independent course. We look forward to devoting our full energy to our mission of helping people not only fight and survive cancer, but also thrive in life after cancer."
The group went on to thank Armstrong for his work on behalf of the organization from which he resigned as chairman in October. He remained on the board of directors until November, when the foundation changed its name.

“Even in the wake of our disappointment, we also express our gratitude to Lance as a survivor for the drive, devotion and spirit he brought to serving cancer patients and the entire cancer community," the statement continued. "Lance is no longer on the foundation’s board, but he is our founder and we will always be grateful to him for creating and helping to build a foundation that has served millions struggling with cancer."
Part two of Winfrey's interview with Armstrong airs at 9 p.m. Friday.

Liam Neeson Set to Star in ‘Run All Night’

A recent report from Deadline has claimed the unmistakable Liam Neeson is set to star in Run All Night, a mob-oriented crime thriller from upcoming screenwriter Brad Ingelsby.
While many claim Liam Neeson is reaching the age where action films are no longer an option, the star of Taken, its sequel and The Grey seems to be proving critics wrong and going the Sean Connery route. Run All Night will see Neeson as a mob hit man who, in a single night, is forced to take on his former boss. At the same time, he’s forced to protect his estranged son from both his former employers and the authorities as they hit the road on the run.
Currently, Warner Bros. is in negotiations with director Jaume Collet-Serra to helm the project, the same director who teamed with Liam Neeson in 2011′s Unknown. The two are currently filming another action thriller called Non-Stop, so it’s fair to assume the pair will retunite once again with Run All Night. Brad Ingelsby has been a busy man this year, working with Mark Wahlberg in a project called Point Blank and a remake called Hold On To Me.
To be quite frank, this film sounds a lot like the 2002 Sam Mendes film Road to Perdition, except set in the modern day with no Paul Newman, Tom Hanks, Jude Law or for that matter, Sam Mendes. While it’s extremely difficult not to like Liam Neeson (can you think of anyone that doesn’t?) it’s easy to see how such a marketable name could be stringed to poor projects.
In any case, here’s to hoping for the best for Run All Night. With such talent as Neeson and such a fresh scribe in Brad Ingelsby, there’s no telling to what heights or depths Run All Night can soar to or fall to.

New Trailer for Jackie Robinson Biopic ’42'

Jackie Robinson, darling of elementary school history curriculums everywhere, is now getting his own big Hollywood biopic. Or rather, his third big Hollywood biopic, after 1950′s The Jackie Robinson Story and 1996′s Soul of the Game. Now, Warner Bros. has released a trailer for the movie online.
The movie follows Robinson, played here by Chadwick Boseman, as he struggles to gain acceptance after breaking Major League Baseball’s color line when he’s signed to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Mainstream America was once not so fond of African Americans intermixing freely with whites, dont’cha know. Harrison Ford also stars as Branch Rickey, the man who signed Robinson to the Dodgers and, based on this trailer, apparently his wise Jedi mentor.
The trailer is nice enough, hitting most of the familiar beats of the biopic. Robinson grows up in hardship, faces adversity, overcomes adversity, etc. etc. etc. 42 comes out April 12th.

Ryan Gosling Could Have Been in Backstreet Boys

Ryan Gosling Could Have Been in Backstreet Boys
Everything happens for a reason? Ryan Gosling revealed in a new interview that he missed an opportunity to join the Backstreet Boys before
they got big.

"When I was doing the Mickey Mouse Club we were living in the same place as that guy A.J. [McLean] from the Backstreet Boys," the Gangster Squad actor, 32, explained to Celebuzz. "And so he was always talking about the Backstreet Boys, but they were just forming that band so he was saying how big they were going to be -- and he had a poster of them in his house."

"We were like . . . that's never going to happen," Gosling recalled. "Didn't they already do that with New Kids [On the Block]? You're a little late. Cut to . . . I was wrong."
Does he regret not trying to get an invitation to join their band when he had the chance? "I can't live in the past. I've got to live in the now," he said. "That ship has sailed."

And he hasn't kept in touch with the band, but not by choice. "They're not returning my calls," he joked.
"I am so sorry I didn't call you back, dude," McLean, 35, told TMZ in response Monday, Jan. 14, adding he doesn't have the actor's number. But if he gets his number, McLean said, "If we ever want a sixth Backstreet Boy, I'm going to call you."

In other Gosling news, actress Anna Kendrick tweeted a critique of his latest film Gangster Squad on Monday.
"Ugh -- NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in a theater again. Apparently masturbating in the back row is still considered 'inappropriate,'" the actress, 27, joked.
The racy tweet must have resonated with her fans as it earned her over 20,000 favorites and 23,000 retweets.
